The IRCAM's Spat plug-in

The IRCAM's Spat will be available this July as a plug-in, will be included in the package tools developed by IRCAM IRCAM and society flow. This tool is dedicated to processing real-time spatialization of sound signals in the contexts of musical creation, post production and in concert situations. Following ircam tools also includes other tools such as reverb IRCAM verb, modeling processor to convert voice TRAX, TRAX and other processors cross synthesis, source filter.

Using a modular approach, the Spat allows the user to specify / automate the spatialization parameters regardless of the mode of reproduction and the type of electroacoustic device selected. Thus the work of spatialization can be done from the stage of composition on an elemental imaging device (binaural reproduction over headphones) and be reused directly or with minor adjustments on more ambitious devices as required by interactive installations or concert situations (panoramic intensity distributions for 2D or 3D speakers, format Ambisonic, Wave Field Synthesis ...).

The originality of Spat also lies in its mode of control of the room effect using perceptual criteria that allows the user to specify intuitively sound characteristics of the room without using acoustic or architectural vocabulary.

Spat can be used in different contexts:

Concerts and spatial sound in real time. The composer may be associated with each note or sound event of the partition a room effect or a sound position in space. The Spat is then controlled by a sequencer, a tracking system partition or algorithmic approach.

Postproduction. A spatialization module can be assigned to each channel of a mixer to provide a comprehensive and intuitive control of the positions of each source and their associated room effect.

Virtual reality. Auditory spatial component is essential to promote the feeling of presence and immersion in virtual reality or interactive installations. Spat can be used in this context, relying in particular on how binaural reproduction (three-dimensional sound reproduction on headphones) is particularly convincing when enslaved to devices for monitoring the position / orientation of the subject (tracking) or gestural controllers.

    Hello,
I am currently working on a project of two musicians with multiphonics and a poet and I look for tools to the projection hexaphonie. The challenge is to spatially distribute live music played by musicians. Being new at this, would you have knowledge of software or plugins for processing live sound in multi-point. During my research I came across the RSS plugin but I do not know if he can do the job. The other solution I found is to direct me to Max-MSP objects but I do not know which.
I'm confused and I feel that everything I find is more for post-production and not the live game.

    Thank you for your Help

    Hello,

    Have you tried Reaper? http://www.reaper.fm/
This is an affordable software and open on mixing formats.
I recommend you if the site of Jean-Marc Duchenne, you should find solutions tailored to your needs!
